The men’s soccer spring schedule concluded Saturday with an entertaining game at local area high school Warren Central. The men’s team executed well against the visiting Ohio State Buckeyes and came away with an impressive 3-1 victory over the 2007 national runner-up.
The game was even at halftime due to a constant volleying of mid-field control, as well as incredibly physical play. As many as three yellow cards were given during the first period of play. The even play and physicality yielded a halftime score of 1-1.
The Bulldogs made good use of the second 45-minute stretch with two goals in the second half. In addition to those goals, they carried over their relentless first-half defense to deny the Buckeyes any signs of offense. Maintaining the Butler lead resulted in the 3-1 final score.
The Butler team was excited about its weekend win, taking pride in beating the formidable national runner-up by two goals. The notable win will offer great inspiration for the men’s summer training and fall season.
