Last week, Butler University lost not only a professor, but a former student and well-respected doctor of pharmacy.

Twenty-eight-year-old Dr. Jennifer Ash, a 2003 Butler alumna of the pharmacy program died last week while on a ski trip in Colorado.

For cash-strapped students looking to save a buck or two on textbooks, their time may be coming.

On February 7, the House of Representatives approved an amendment to the Higher Education Act. Textbooks prices are a focus in bill H.R. 4137, the College Opportunity and Affordability Act of 2008. It also proposes changes for tuition, loan lenders, loan counseling, grants and student safety, among other topics.

Every Monday and Wednesday afternoon, Rhea McDonald arrives at Hinkle Fieldhouse where she greets the small cluster of students waiting for her. Soon, music fills the small gymnasium and transports the group into another culture.

Not everyone is so deeply invested in sharing their culture, but Rhea McDonald has loved to share her Israeli heritage since she was 15 years old.
