Will Ferrell fouls out in his basketball comedy “Semi-Pro” which opened in theaters Feb. 29. In “Semi-Pro,” Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, a has-been pop singer turned player, owner and coach for the Flint Tropics, a semi-professional basketball team.

It was the biggest win in Butler basketball history. The Bulldogs had just finished off a No. 4 seed to punch their dance card for the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Another perennial powerhouse program awaited them the next weekend, ready to end their dream run. For a week, though, Cinderella’s slipper would make paw prints. This was not the 2007 strain of that delightful sickness known as March Madness. This was the 2003 edition and Brandon Miller led the team in points, in assists and in attitude.

Looking out her window, Katie Sanders saw sights that were so beautiful she thought they should be postcards. Watching the sunset on a gorgeous day was breathtaking unless she happened to look down. Washed up on the shore would be a dirty diaper. It was the epitome of a Third World paradise. Sanders, a graduate of Butler in 2005, spent July of 2006 through June of 2007 in the Marshall Islands as a part of WorldTeach, a non-profit, non-governmental organization that provides opportunities for individuals to live and work as volunteer teachers in developing countries.
