A hard fought rally just wasn’t enough as the women’s basketball team suffered a 67-64 loss to Loyola on Saturday.

Butler (15-7, 5-6) was down 59-46 with less than 10 minutes remaining when the comeback attempt began. An 18-4 run was keyed by freshman Azjah Bass’ 3-pointer that gave the Bulldogs a 64-63 lead with 2:07 to go.

Junior Tara Miller followed with a steal in the Ramblers’ next possession, but couldn’t capitalize. A foul against Butler allowed Loyola to pull back ahead by one. Miller tried to counter with a layup but missed and then the Bulldogs were forced to foul.

Starting off a game 8-for-29 from the field and 1-for-15 from behind the arc is never the ideal situation.

However, like most high-ranking teams, the Bulldogs (21-2, 10-2) eventually found their rhythm to secure a 62-57 Horizon League victory.
